Now you can go online to the PSN store, Sign in, and play games online without the system nagging you to update to the latest firmware. Follow these instructions here.

The instructions are somewhat confusing and out of order. But if you stick to it, you'll get it and be pissed at the tutorial writers, and know that you are smarter than them.

Things to note:

-charles.config is found in PS3DNS.zip.

-opening Charles for the first time, creates the charles.config fil.

-copy charles.config from PS3DNS.zip to C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Charles, replacing the file that is already there. To make it even easier for you, I have the charles.config file edited already for USA, see below. So no need to open Charles and edit the proxy,map local...etc.

-download ps2-updatelist.txt below and copy to C:\. This file is already edited for USA.

Samsung's rechargeable 3D glasses normally cost $200 at retail stores. You can get them for about $98 each on ebay. They ship from Korea and most sellers offer free EMS (Express) shipping if you buy 2 or more. I bought 2 pairs and they came in 5 days. 3 more are coming. I ordered from 2 different  sellers and both respond to my questions within 1 hour (try that with US sellers, HA!). I highly recommend seller name green-sum and goodtrader0301. These glasses are fragile, so handle them with care. They work great with my 63" Samsung Plasma 3D TV!

On January 27th, Sony of Japan revealed the new PSP. It's got dual joysticks which tilts like Playstation controller, large 5" OLED screen 960x544, front screen is touch, touch pad on back,Wifi, 3G, GPS, tilt sensitive axxis control, L+R shoulder buttons, front and back-facing cameras.

Games coming for it are Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Hot Shot Golf, WipeOut, Resistance, Call of Duty...can't wait for Monster Hunter Portable 3!

To unlock a hidden top down zombie shooting game in Call of Duty: Black Ops, go to main menu, look down at your arms, keep pressing L trigger and R trigger until arms break free, walk around to computer, hold (corresponding button) to use computer, then enter DOA and enter. You'll be taken to the arcade game Dead Ops.

Be sure to jailbreak the ps3 and install ps3 ftp

How to:

1. Dump any game of your choice to your hdd

2. Install Ps3 FTP and launch it

3. Connect via ftp and navigate to your hdd folder then to games -> LAUN12345 -> GAMEZ -> YOUR GAME ID -> PS3_GAME

4. Now copy PARAM.SFO and make a backup of it just in case

5. Download SFO Editor open the sfo and check “enable remote play”

6. Save it and then open up the FTP and transfer the modded sfo back into the PS3_GAME folder.

7. Now connect your psp in remote play and enjoy.

PS3 Firmware 3.42 blocks the PSGroove and PSJailbreak USB dongles from working.

So if you want to keep playing backed-up games, do not update.

PSgroove has been released to the public as an opened source code. It allows the PS3 (fat and slim) to run homebrew apps and play backup games. Gamers who pre-ordered the PSjailbreak device have already canceled their order when the source code was released yesterday, knowing that you can make your own PSjailbreak device for cheaper. You will need a USB programmer with any of these chipsets:

• AT90USB162
• AT90USB646
• AT90USB647
• AT90USB1286
• AT90USB1287
• ATMEGA32U4

and maybe more.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that ATAVRXPLAIN also works. In stock and available at digi-key and farnell. PSGroove intructions for ATAVRXPLAIN.

Blackcat USB programmers will work as well as AT90USBKEY. Most of these are sold out everywhere. They cost around $20-$35.

Capcom is releasing a new SFIV game in spring 2010. It's gonna have 8 new characters in addition to the old. Including one brand new character we've never seen before. Capcom also have touched up the old characters based on user feedbacks. This will be a stand-alone game disc and will not cost full $60 like normal PS3 and 360 games.
