Red Ring Of Death renders your 360 useless. I just had a 3 Red Ring of Death on my 360. Tried turning it off and on, didn't fix it. Left if off for 30 minutes, turn back on, didn't fix it. I wasn't gonna do the towel fix because that is more stupid than what I did to fix it. The towel method would heat up the Xbox and could damage the components. I just thought my 360 had overheated so I just left it in the freezer for over an hour with the covers off, completely forgotten it was in there though. I took it out and plugged it in immediately. Voila! It worked, no more Red Ring. Later I will add some CPU thermal to the GPU to prevent anymore Red Ring from occuring.
