Resistance 2 Beta Impressions

October 18, 2008

Yesterday I got my Resistance 2 beta code from PlayStation Underground. I entered the codes into the PS3's Redeem Code menu and slowly began to download the 2.2 Gigabyte file. After over 30 minutes, it installed and my son and I began to play. Finding rooms to join was a breeze, menus are easy to understand. We first joined a team of 8 Humans against the Chimeras. It feels a little different to Resistance 1's online play, but the entire gameplay has changed. Resistance 1 did not have online co-op. Gore galore, body parts blown up into pieces, lots of blood too in this game, not so gory in part 1. The game is intense, Insomniac Games raised the enemy HP way high, taking us 8 players longer to defeat each enemy. Not really a compaint, though. The graphics are not as good as Resistance 1. The enemies look darker than everything else. Also playing co-op with another local player makes the screen get cut-off on both sides of the screen, a squarish look, black empty sides with top and bottom screens for the 2 players. It's exactly like Halo 3 on the 360.

With just some minor negative issues, Resistance 2 is fun to play online mission mode with other people outside your home, or even inside. I personally would like to play the single player story mode. Resistance 2 hits store Nov. 4th.
