To turn your computer on without having to walk to it, use what is known as Wake Up on Lan feature. Saves time, no waiting for PC to boot. This feature is available on most desktop motherboard's BIOS setting, sometimes it's labeled as PME Wakeup Event. Set it to "enable", save and boot your computer. Once Windows load, find your MAC address by typing IPCONFIG /ALL in Start/Run/"CMD".
Download and install iWOL for iPhone. In it's setting, enter a name, such as what you call your computer. Then enter the MAC address in this format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. Set LAN Broadcast to on. Turn off your PC. Then try turning on your PC using the iWOL. Your computer starts turning on instantly right after you confirm "Wake Up Computer?"
Just remember your iPhone needs to be connected to your LAN for it to work. iWOL can also turn on your PC over the internet, while you are not connected to your LAN, but that will require more settings such as Portforwarding and DNS/IP address. Really, you're not gonna have the need to turn on your PC while you're away from home. Security concerns is an issue with that.
